PURPOSE; CALL: WHICH WAY? RESPONSE: GOD’S WAY

The Journey So Far

If you’re just joining us on this blog, you’re welcome. We began this new year with a THEME EXPOSITION on this journey.

Recall our anchor scripture, Hebrews 10: 7

So far, we have discussed the theme, the life of a man who believed in the fulfillment of purpose and also considered our response to God’s demand on our lives.

Today, we are asking a critical question, Which way?

Which way?

This is a question that answers how. It’s a question that leads to decision making. When you approach a Tee junction and you’re not sure about directions, you ask, which way? Knowing which way to go is dependent on

  1. If you know where you’re headed.
  2. If you know the path that leads to where you are headed.
  3. If you have a map illustrating how to get to where you’re headed.
  4. If you have a guide that knows which way leads to where you are headed.

Either way, there is a destination. The destination is where God wants us to be.

Take note, in our discussion of purpose, our emphasis has been that God has a plan. He knows where He desires that we be or end up. He created the path, so he knows the route. We aim to arrive at that destination.

Following God, We Can Never Miss Our Way

On the journey to purpose discovery, indeed, we do not understand it all at once. We cannot comprehend the journey of 50-60 years of our lives in one encounter. Many times, God does not reveal the entire details of our journey. He only helps us to begin and shows us the vision to encourage our hearts.

The journey is not a straight road, neither is it a smooth one. We cannot ascertain the hills and valleys we would encounter on the way.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part’ 1 Corinthians 13:9 (NKJV)

God requires that we first of all be surrendered. If we do not trust him with our lives, then it will be difficult to allow him to lead us. This journey begins with baby steps up to the point where we can take giant strides and we begin to run.

God’s Way!

God is willing to guide us every step. The fulfillment of purpose begins with making the right decisions, this can only be possible when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. The Spirit of God can never lead us to sin, he teaches us to please God. He unveils the mind of the father to us.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye. Psalms 32: 8 (NKJV)

The ultimate purpose of God for your life is to please him and live for him. I can assure you that you cannot be led by God and still live a miserable life. God is not asking you to understand the full picture, he only requests that you have enough faith to allow him to lead you. God is concerned about the big questions you have, and the little ones as well.

Begin the journey of purpose discovery by allowing God to guide your decisions daily, and you will never miss your way.

Only One Life To Live

‘Only one life to live’ was a statement that characterized the life of my Late Pioneer General Pastor, Pastor Dr. Uzodinma Adeogo Obed. He composed a song using these words, teaching us all to surrender our lives to God.

Man has only one chance at life after which we would transit to our eternal home. There is no second chance at life, there is no second earth after death comes judgment. This understanding has constantly kept me on my toes, reminding me that I don’t have much time anymore.

While the days are counting, I’m getting closer to the day I will depart from this world, it’s not my home. We all are getting close to the day we will bid the world goodbye, it is only when we have fully lived that we can dare to die.

A life worth living is a life lived for God. Only God can make sense out of our lives. when you are alienated from your source, you cannot thrive for long. For we cannot bear fruits of our selves. The call upon us all is to live a life pleasing unto God.

This is the demand of God upon our lives, it is up to us to respond to it.

‘I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service’ Romans 12: 1 (NKJV)

Which Way? God’s Way!

It’s God over everything, God before everything. It’s God before anything, God, then every other thing. It’s what He wants, not what we want. It’s how God chooses to move, not how we want to move. It’s God’s will, not our desires. It’s God’s plans, not our carefully planned strategy. It’s God’s way today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives. It’s you and God, no matter what.

My dear readers, so when I say ‘Which way?’, your response is ‘God’s way’

Call: Which way?
Response: God’s way!

Yes! That’s the response God desires.
